the What Exactly is the Function of a Rubber Duck Club
CP: 1
Mindvoice: #d07349
Inspiration: Arthur Weasley
Description:
Some might wonder if this salamancer is from another world entirely. They're utterly fascinated by what most people would call mundane objects: books, for example, or pots and pans. In reality, they've just managed to live their life away from humanoid settlements. They're fueled by a boundless curiosity and a rather mechanical mind. They love to look at something like a pencil sharpener and try to figure out what it's for and how it works. This leads to some amusing conclusions. Pencil sharpeners are obviously used for preparing vegetables, for example.
They typically use their charm magic to help them analyse 'mysterious' items. This might include taking apart a radio screw by screw or spinning a thimble around in the air to see if that does anything. Beyond that, they do seem to use magic for literally every single thing that they can, no matter how minor. They could be holding a teaspoon in their hand and still stir their tea by making the cup revolve on the spot.
They really don't understand how people survive without magic, honestly. As a result they're constantly praising humanoids and other shinies for their 'ingenuity,' which could be anything from strapping a mehdayri to a buggy to make it move to putting leftovers in the fridge to prevent them from spoiling. Most people find it a little odd to be lavished with complements for such everyday activities. Their constant questions are also occasionally off-putting. This Club is constantly asking 'what is that?' and 'how does that work?' and 'why are you doing that?' and seems to lack the social awareness required to realize when people don't want to deal with explaining every single tiny thing.
They're a little oblivious in general, honestly. While not exactly incompetent, they're bumbling and often not the most logical. They're not super great at picking up on peoples' emotions, but their heart is in the right place and they really do care about their friends and bondmates. If you sit them down and clearly explain what you're feeling and why they always do their best to understand and help.
They're genderfluid, and their preferred pronouns vary. 'They/them' is a good default, but they'll certainly let you know if they'd like something else.
They resemble a fire-bellied newt, with a bright red-orange belly that contrasts the rest of their near-black hide. Their wings resemble those of a common lacewing butterfly, with a distinctive black-and-white zig-zag edge and an ornate pattern of oranges, yellows, black, and whites within. The club marking is displayed prominently in bright red. Their antennae are curly and also bright red. Their wand is a bubble wand, and if they'd be incredibly delighted if they ever found out what its normally used for.

the Anything's Possible If You've Got Enough Nerve Spade
CP: 1
Mindvoice: #f4b92d
Inspiration: Ginny Weasley
Description:
At only three inches long from nose to tail, this Spade is quite a small salamancer. She resembles a Boscá's newt, complete with a bright red-orange underbelly. Her back is a comparatively dull gold-brown shade, spangled with bright white spots. All in all she's quite pretty. Her ornate wings call to mind those of a great nawab butterfly, with a similar white background and orange-and-black pattern and the same frilly edge to the lower portion of the wing. Where the orange-and-black stripe would normally split into a 'y' it instead loops around into a neat spade marking.
It would be unwise to mistake her small stature for weakness. This Spade's a little firebrand, with plenty of sass and spunk to spare. She's never shy of asserting her opinions, and she'll stand up to friends and enemies alike to defend her beliefs. While she's fiercely independent, she's definitely the sort of person you want to have fighting in your corner. She has a way of making her friends laugh even when things get tough, and her own bravery often inspires others.
She does have a tendency to be rash, though. Her impulsive actions have gotten her in trouble on more than one occasion. It's a good thing, then, that she's quick-witted and optimistic. Nothing seems to get her down for long, and she'll always land on her feet in the end.
She has a surprising mind for mischief, and its to this effect that she usually applies her magical talents. Common Spades aren't very good at transfiguring non-living objects into living ones, but nevertheless she does her best. She has a particularly neat trick of turning a person's nose boogers into tiny, literal bats. They dissipate quickly, but the experience tends to leave a lasting impression on her victims...
Her wand is a short, thin glow stick. Unlike most glow sticks, it never seems to run out of light, though it produces barely enough to pierce the darkness. It does have a neat trick to it, though. On the days she's feeling more feminine and would prefer she/her pronouns it glows a reddish purple, where on more masculine days when he'd prefer he/him pronouns it glows a blueish purple.
Magical pursuits aren't this salamancer's only joy in life, though. He also has a great love of physical competition, and will try his hand at all kinds of team sports. His favorites are the ones with a lot of action: soccer, for instance, or rugby. Violence is par for the course as long as its in good spirit. Truth be told he can be a bit of a sore loser, but he loves the adrenaline rush he gets from a game well played.
His fondest wish in the world, though, is to learn how to fly. He laments every day that his wings don't work, and dreams of taking to the skies. It's the ultimate adrenaline rush. Rest assured that if her ever finds a way to achieve his dreams--a tiny airplane, a magic broomstick, or even a willing flighted bondmate--he'll be a natural.
